Two game modes exist:
- The 2 Players mode on the same computer
- The 2 Players mode on two different computers

In the first mode each player must move his piece to his turn. It's the default mode.

But in the second mode, you have the possibility to play with another guy on two different computers through IP. Thus you can play with a local network or on the web.

With the network mode you even can send several messages in the same window to chat during the match.

Moreover, Cool Chess propose several options for novice players changing cell colors. When you click on a piece to move it, several cells will change of colors.

Here the defintion of all available colors in the software:
Green : The piece can go to this position
Red : It can go but it will be lost maybe if the other player play well
Orange : It will be lost but you will be able to take the piece after
